For one magical night, we traded snack bags for scones and bedtime stories for butler service. Thornbury Castle was our royal reset — quiet, cozy, and completely kid-free.
Dinner was an experience all on its own — a five-course feast inside the castle’s elegant dining room, surrounded by centuries-old stone walls and candlelight. Every dish felt like a work of art, and the service was truly next level. They even created a fully gluten-free and dairy-free menu for me without missing a beat — proof that fine dining can be both indulgent and inclusive.
From the four-poster bed to breakfast in the great hall, the entire stay felt like stepping back in time, only with modern comfort (and no little voices asking for snacks every five minutes 😅).
Because sometimes, parents need a vacation from the family vacation — and if it comes with royal robes and castle views, even better. 👑✨

We love traveling with our kids — truly — but let’s not pretend it’s not exhausting. So when Grandma kindly gave us a night off to celebrate our anniversary, we escaped to Thornbury Castle in England — a real Tudor castle straight out of a storybook. 🏰
Candlelit dinner at the on-property restaurant was incredible — 5+ courses of pure perfection 👑. The gardens were divine, and our room so elegant I swear I could’ve written my life’s novel there (with modern comforts like heated floors and breakfast in the great hall).
This only works if you travel with backup — like a grandparent or aunt 😉
